Her style is best described as angelic and sweet, yet soulful. Her carefully crafted music has been compared to well respected artists such as Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, and Colbie Callait. Also join us before she plays at 6:00 for a gratitude//Testimonial meeting.  Testimonial meetings are similar to the Sunday services, but the Scriptural selections are customized to the needs of the congregation and occasion.  You’ll also hear fellow attendees share insights, experiences, and healing they’ve had as a result of their prayer and study of Christian Science.
Jon Benson will be joining us and will be sharing reading exploring the question: “Is Christian Scientific, healing prayer essentially human or Divine? “

Every Wednesday evening most Christian Science churches or Societies come together to hear and share how they were healed and their life made better through the application of Christian Science.  This will be an example of one of those meeting tonight

This is a video example by Jon Benson CS (Christian Science Practitioner) of what you might hear at a Christian Science Wednesday night Testimonial meeting.

No Church service this Sunday, but we will be open for the Encinitas Street Fair April 28th and 29th, 2018

April 25th, 2018

The Reading Room will be open this weekend from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday during the Encinitas Street Fair.  Parking is tight so it might be a good time to take the train!  Come by and say hi if you can.

We will have a scavenger hunt called “The God’s name game” during the fair this Saturday and Sunday in our Garden where the kids search for the seven synonyms for God.

IMG_1236  In our textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy she defines God in the glossary as:

God. The great I AM; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence.

So we place the names: Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love around the garden to be found by the seekers.  Come by and join the fun and when a prize .

This game is based on ideas taught in our Infinite Horizons Program which includes  Christian Science Sunday school.  For more information click Here  .

Safety amid violent conflict – Brian Kissock, CSB, reflects on what comforted and inspired him and kept him safe during a dangerous time in Northern Ireland.

March 28th, 2018

“A thought came to me strongly to look in the rear of the stall. When I did, in that split second, I saw a bomb there.”

People around the world have been galvanized into considering what can be done to face up to both gun crime and terrorism. Young folk have been energized to march in cities demanding action. Leaders and organizations have advocated for various solutions.
Amid the important conversations taking place along those lines, I’ve found there is great value in…..Read More

Each weekday, the Monitor includes one clearly labeled religious article offering spiritual insight on contemporary issues, including the news. The publication – in its various forms – is produced for anyone who cares about the progress of the human endeavor around the world and seeks news reported with compassion, intelligence, and an essentially constructive lens. For many, that caring has religious roots. For many, it does not. The Monitor has always embraced both audiences. The Monitor is owned by a church – The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston – whose founder was concerned with both the state of the world and the quality of available news.

After earning her degree, she spent four years as Director of the Foundation for Biblical Research in New Hampshire which provided workshops for lay people conducted by leading Bible scholars, as well as professional development opportunities for clergy and other church leaders. This was followed by 16 years of teaching the Bible to Christian Scientists throughout the country, including three years of teaching the Bible and Christian history at Principia College. She has been editor-in-chief for an ongoing Bible study curriculum series for the past decade with the nonprofit, Bible Study Seminars (https://www.bibleandspirituallife.org).
