“I love to tell the story . . .” starts an old evangelical hymn. “Telling the story” is a large part of what I do as a healer, teacher, writer and lecturer. Everything in my story leads back to the great “story” of the origin and practice of Christian Science

Church music – New arrangement of Mrs. Eddy’s Poem “Mother’s Evening Prayer”

May 21st, 2017

Jen and Cindy were with us last Sunday.  Jen wrote this lovely original music to Mary Baker Eddy’s poem…  Mother’s Evening Prayer

Join us today May 22nd, 2017 for our 4:00 church service in the Garden.  Today’s solo will be performed by Justin Froese.

Also mark your calendars for a lecture by Guest Speaker, Michelle Nanouche, CSB Entitled“Finding God, finding health.” on June 3rd, 2017 at 10:00 at the Sunland Annual Meeting.

Mother’s Evening Prayer by Mary Baker Eddy

O gentle presence, peace and joy and power;
O Life divine, that owns each waiting hour,
Thou Love that guards the nestling’s faltering flight!
Keep Thou my child on upward wing tonight.

Love is our refuge; only with mine eye
Can I behold the snare, the pit, the fall:
His habitation high is here, and nigh,
His arm encircles me, and mine, and all.

O make me glad for every scalding tear,
For hope deferred, ingratitude, disdain!
Wait, and love more for every hate, and fear
No ill,—since God is good, and loss is gain.

Beneath the shadow of His mighty wing;
In that sweet secret of the narrow way,
Seeking and finding, with the angels sing:
“Lo, I am with you alway,”—watch and pray.

No snare, no fowler, pestilence or pain;
No night drops down upon the troubled breast,
When heaven’s aftersmile earth’s tear-drops gain,
And mother finds her home and heav’nly rest.

No Church service this Sunday, but we will be open for the Encinitas Street Fair April 29th and 30th, 2017

April 28th, 2017

The Reading Room will be open this weekend from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday during the Encinitas Street Fair.  Parking is tight so it might be a good time to take the train!  Come by and say hi if you can.

We will have a scavenger hunt called “The God’s name game” during the fair this Saturday and Sunday in our Garden where the kids search for the seven synonyms for God.

IMG_1236  In our textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy she defines God in the glossary as:

God. The great I AM; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence.

So we place the names: Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love around the garden to be found by the seekers.  Come by and join the fun and when a prize .

Click below to download a PDF of the game.

God’s name game

This game is based on ideas taught in a Christian Science Sunday school.  For more information about a Sunday School near you click Here  .

Christian Science and the Marines – Video by Sally Lind CS

April 19th, 2017

Sally Lind is a Christian Science practitioner and she and others volunteer their time to teach Sunday school to the recruits at Camp Pendleton, CA. The beginning lessons are the Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the Mount and the Lord’s Prayer. This spiritual study of The Holy Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, gives these recruits a solid basis to practice their faith in God as the only Law giver in their training and for later times of deployment.
